WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Your session will take place in a discreet pop up tent or booth.
2. Your tan tech will help you decide the best color and solution to use. If you choose Express, you can rinse in 1 to 4 hours after your appointment. Our classic solution requires 8 hours minimum to develop.
3. You may wear your bathing suit, a disposable salon thong, or tan nude to avoid tan lines. If your tan is for the beach, be sure to line up whatever you wear with how your bathing suit fits. Once sprayed, your tan lines cannot be filled in or blended.
4. You will be guided through a series of quick, easy postures during the spraying process.
5. At the lightest level, you’ll be asked to review the results. At Gotham Glow, we like to stay on the light side for the most natural result. If you prefer a darker look, let us know and we will customize the perfect color for you.
6. When the desired shade is reached, it’s off to the dryer for the final step. There, you’ll spend 5 to 10 minutes in front of a fan to allow the solution to set.
7. Once you’ve been checked and approved by your Gotham Glow tech, your session will be complete and you’ll be ready to GLOW!
8. Tanning session takes 15-20 minutes (drying time included). The darker the tan, the more time required.
9. With proper maintenance, Gotham Glow tans can last 5-7 days. For best results, use oil free lotion and sunscreen. These can be applied after your initial rinse.
10. Gotham Glow uses a proprietary solution derived from ogranic ingredients, loaded with vitamins to help nourish and enrich your skin. It is 100% noncomedogenic.
11. Gotham Glow accepts cash and all major credit cards for payment. A credit card is required to hold all bookings. Tipping your tan tech is customary and greatly appreciated. Gratuity can be added to your credit card payment.
12. If you need to cancel or make a change, please do so 24 hours before your scheduled time or you will be charged for your late or missed appointment.

PRE–TAN PREP GUIDE

• Waxes, facials, manis, and pedis should be done prior to appointment. Be sure to remove all residual substances.
• For best result, exfoliate before your appointment. Avoid oily scrubs.
• Do not apply moisturizer or oils to skin before tanning. Tans are best applied to dry skin.
• Bring loose, dark clothing to change into after your session. No jeans or bras please.
• Shave before your appointment. For best results, use a blade for a closer shave and one without a glide strip. Avoid using aftershave and toners pre and post tan, as they contain alcohol and will dry out the skin.

POST–TAN TIPS

• If you choose the classic solution, wait 8 hours before you allow any water to touch your skin. If you sleep in the solution, wear long, loose pants and a t-shirt. Avoid skin on skin contact. If you choose Express, you can rinse in 1 to 4 hours.
• Your first shower should be a lukewarm rinse without soap. Dove soap should always be avoided.
• The color guide solution will wash off at this time. This is not your tan. Simply wait until the water runs clear before exiting the shower.
• If you must shampoo during your first rinse, pull hair forward and wash or wash in the sink to avoid suds running down your back.
• Use hands or a soft cloth to wash. Gently pat dry with a soft towel.
• Use oil free moisturizer as soon as you’ve taken your first rinse and for the duration of the tan. All products, including sunscreen, should be oil free.
• To best maintain, think of your tan as your top layer of skin. Skip steams, hot soaks, massages, oils, and scrubs.

FAQS

I WANT A GOTHAM GLOW FOR A SPECIAL EVENT? WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?
For special events, especially those with photos, schedule your appointment 2 days in advance. For vacation, come the day before you leave.

DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT LOOKING ORANGE OR STREAKY?
You absolutely will not look orange. Our solution does not have any orange tint. We specialize in making sure our clients leave with a natural glow. Our technicians are highly trained and you should not experience any streaking unless you fail to follow the given instructions.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CLASSIC AND EXPRESS TANS?
Color and lasting results are the same. The only differences are the price and the amount of time you wait to take your first rinse. If you choose Express, you can rinse in 1 to 4 hours. Your tan tech will let you know when to rinse. Our classic tan requires 8 hours minimum to develop. The price for Express is $10 more.

WHY WOULDN’T EVERYONE CHOOSE EXPRESS TAN?
Clients often choose Express or Classic tans based on their schedule. Express allows you to rinse quicker, but the full color will show up closer to the 8 hour mark. Express is great if you’re in a hurry or want to wear jeans, makeup, etc. later. When choosing Express, you want to be sure you can take the rinse at the recommended time your tan tech advises; otherwise, the longer you leave it on, the darker you will get. Our classic solution is great if you are just chilling out and don’t want to watch the clock. Also ideal for evening appointments, as you can just sleep in the solution and rinse the next morning. No worries about setting the alarm either, It won’t overdevelop. You simply wake and rinse.

WHAT IF I NEED TO SHAVE AFTER MY TANNING APPOINTMENT?
It’s best to wait until the day after your appointment. Use oil and alcohol free products and maintain light pressure. Keep in mind that shaving is like exfoliating so the more you shave, the quicker your tan fades.

CAN I GET A MANI/PEDI AFTER THE TAN?
If your mani/pedi will include a soak, scrub, or massage, please be sure to schedule prior to tanning. Mani/pedis post tan can be file and polish change only.

SHOULD I OPT FOR A TAN LINE?
Yes, especially if it is your first time at Gotham Glow. Our tans are so incredibly natural, you’ll want to have a good indicator of before and after to best decide how dark to go.

WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO HAVE A TAN LINE BUT STILL WANT TO SEE BEFORE AND AFTER?
Ask your technician for a body sticker. She will provide a small sticker for you to place discreetly or show off – your choice. This will help you see before and after.

I LOVE THE WAY MY GOTHAM GLOW TAN LOOKS. HOW DO I KEEP IT UP?
Make sure you moisturize daily with oil free products. Refrain from exfoliating and/or engaging in activities which cause profuse sweating. Avoid spin or hot yoga. Always refer to the Do’s and Don’ts included in every confirmation.

WHY CAN’T I JUST WALK IN FOR AN APPOINTMENT?
Gotham Glow is by appointment only. Often we are on house call appointments so may not be in the salon. If you have an appointment, you will be seen at your scheduled time.

CAN I USE THE CREDIT CARD I USED TO HOLD THE BOOKING TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE?
Yes, but you must bring the card so we can swipe it after your service. The card you supply to hold the booking is only automatically charged if you violate the cancellation policy.

IT’S RANING OUT. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
You’ll want to leave with loose, dark clothing. Avoid Jeans. During wet or humid conditions boots are great, but refrain from wearing long, tight boots to avoid seams or imprints on the skin and to keep humidity at bay.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you need to cancel or make a change, do so 24 hours before your scheduled time to avoid a full charge for missed service or same day cancellation fee.

IS THERE A GRACE PERIOD FOR LATE ARRIVALS?
Tanning appointments are booked in 15 minute intervals. There is no grace period.
